6U Spring Program & ScheduleUpdated Monday January 29, 2018 by Robert Elkins .
6U D-BACKS SOFTBALL PROGRAM
6U is the 1st age above T-Ball and where we start to separate Softball from baseball. This program is strictly developmental and will play an intra-mural schedule. The focus is on making sure the girls have fun, learn to love the sport, and continue to develop essential fundamental skills.
D-Backs Coaches will train the girls at Thursday afternoon practice while parents and HS Varsity athletes will Coach the games. Parents are encouraged to assist at practice if possible. There will be trained umpires at all games. Games will be coach pitch and if a child is not making contact or swinging she will then hit off tee.
6U Spring Schedule
PRACTICE: Thursday 4-530 starting April 5th (NOTE, practices are OPTIONAL at this age but recommended)
GAMES: Saturday afternoon starting April 7th.
1st 2 weeks of season will be for evaluation, instruction and to form teams.
WANT TO HELP? Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to register to volunteer. We need volunteer parent coaches to Coach the teams during games. Parents are also welcome to attend and assist our professional coaches at practices. All volunteers must attend a PAL coaching seminar and also pass a background check. We have been a part of Port Washington for 70 years by insisting that children receive proper age appropriate instruction in a safe nurturing atmosphere.
Thank you for your consideration, the program is stronger through your involvement!
WHAT TO WEAR AND BRING
All players will receive a jersey, socks and a visor. Players should wear their own black softball pants and cleats. Players should also be mindful of weather and wear some type of under-armour early in the season and a sweatshirt to early season practices.
All players will need appropriate game equipment. A glove, a bat, and a helmet with a facemask are essential. Optional equipment includes a safety mask, sunglasses, batting gloves, and a water bottle.
